About Event
PLASMA is annual flagship event of Dept of ECE. It is National level tech fest where students from all across the state and country visit and compete with hundreds of enthusiasts in an array of Robotic and Non-robotic events! In the 3rd Edition of PLASMA, we had 800+ teams among which 150 were from other states and the remaining were from various districts of Karnataka. In the subsequent year, PLASMA was hosted virtually which witnessed tremendous participation from all over the state and nearby regions. The current iteration of PLASMA 2022 boasts a winning amount of up to 1.5 Lakh rupees and a plethora of robotic and non-robotic event.

About College
JNNCE was established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society.
The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is recognized by AICTE, New Delhi.
It offers 8 UG and 2 M.Tech Programs besides MBA and MCA.
It has 9 Research centers recognized by VTU. Spread over 39.4 acres, the campus has the amenities to cater to the needs of over 3400 students and 400 employees .
Each department is equipped with a good infrastructure with qualified and experienced faculty and well-equipped laboratories.
The Institution has 46 doctorates and 56 research scholars to its credit.
The college is regarded as one of the excellent centers for technical education and research.

About Department
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was started in the year 1980.
Department has well-equipped laboratories, qualified and experienced staff to cater to the needs of students of the UG program.
The ECE department has been accredited by NBA, New Delhi and recognized as a research center
under which 22 research scholars are pursuing Ph.D. under VTU Belgaum. UG students are actively involved in carrying out their projects at
New Age Incubation Network and NewGen IEDC. The department manages Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE),
Shivamogga center and has IETE student forum. IETE is a national apex body of professional engineers devoted to advancements in Electronics,
Telecommunications, IT, and allied areas. The 56th center of IETE was inaugurated at
Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering Shivamogga on 1st March 2009
Event Overview
NON ROBOTIC
Participants are required to make a paper about a topic or an area of their choice, and then present it in front of juries. There will be only one round, where maximum of 2 participants are allowed to present the paper. At the end there will be viva voce based on the paper presented.

Participants are subjected to find a solution for a problem statement using any programming language in most efficient way. The submitted solution would be subjected to different judging parameters, the solution which garners the most points wins the event.

ROBOTIC
A manually controlled bot either tethered or wireless has to tackle opponent robot and goal a spherical object into opponent’s goal post to score. The player's bot is specifically designed to meet tackling advantages, object holding design to assist in scoring the goal and prevent self scoring against the opponent. The match would be one on one type where the bot with most goals wins the session.

Participants are required build a small self-contained autonomous bot, a Maze runner to transverse a maze in the shortest possible time. It has to sense the walls, make decisions and steer itself through the walls and reach the goal autonomously. The aim of the event is to check the stability and sensing capabilities of the robot in comparison with other opponents. The Robot which will start on the START tile and reach the FINISH tile in the shortest time will be nominated as winner.

An autonomous bot that traverse through the path fastly.As it consist of two rounds,the participant's bot must cover the track within least amount of time in order to qualify for next round.

The Challenge is to design and build a robot competent to fight other robots in the Battle. The competition is carried out in a tournament format in which the competitors bring their wired/wireless robots ready to battle and are pitted against their competitor’s robots in one-one matches where the aim is to cause maximum damage or to push the opponent’s robot off the arena to score maximum points. Team scoring the maximum points wins the championship. The challenge has two participation categories as per the gross weight of the Robot.

A manually controlled robot wired or wireless has to traverse through the track full of turns and obstacles in minimum possible time. The robot must be manually/autonomously controlled, and it should be capable of traversing over different terrain and hurdles without going outside the track. Separate points will be awarded for overcoming the hurdles. The bot with the maximum cumulative points will win the race.

A manually controlled wired or wireless limited sized Sumo robots will compete within a circular arena. The purpose of the competition will be for one robot to eliminate the other by means of pushing it out of the arena or incapacitating it by tipping,disabling or overturning it within the bout time limit.Each match will be a knockout match where the bot with high score win the match.
